Having spent years living on the east coast, having a lunch this good for 10-11 dollar is a steal. The best is the salmon sandwich with the side of greens. A huge piece of salmon with arugula on fresh bread. Perfect size for lunch.

If I lived in OP for FOPO I would visit more often. Oak Park is the perfect halfway point between the city and the ‘burbs to meet my suburban friends for dinner, so I chose Poor Phil’s.

’ve generally stayed away from this place just because I hate waiting in line when I’m hungry and when I wake up from a night of debauchery, the LAST thing I want to do is wait in line for an hour to get food.

I really couldn’t have asked for better experience. The perogis were delicious with a large variety to choose from.

We all started off with some coffee which we desperately needed after a late night of craziness. My friends ordered the waffle with strawberries which looked great although I didn’t taste it.

The cheesesteak was even bigger than I remembered it, and was filled with flavor; if it were halved in size, it would still stand beat the pants off of many other cheesesteaks around here. The turkey hoagie was no smaller and also a scrumptious feast, and my lady’s tasty corned beef was about the size of a small accordion. We got all this on Monday, and I’m eating the last of it for dinner tonight, on Thursday. There’s just so much of it.

The meatball stromboli is the best in the city!

Pizzitola’s 70-year old big brick pit is firing up some east Texas hickory and the ribs are cookin’ just right or maybe chicken is your thing - something our owner has become famous for.
