This place is a complete dive but so incredibly good. My husband and I
vacationed in Savannah for a few days and stopped here for lunch on our way to
Tybee Island after visiting the Bonaventure Cemetery.
Love this place. This is must stop for breakfast or lunch if you visit
Savannah. This place is a Savannah icon and was featured in the book Midnight
in the Garden of Good and Evil. The decor is your typical dinner fare. Place
has been around a long time.
Had a delightful meal there last Friday, I remembered Clio from Andrew
Zimmern’s Bizzarre Foods America. If this restaurant was in NYC, I would’ve
liked to see a better decor and location, but being in Boston, everything was
a-okay.
Dooky Chase was on the list for this year and did not disappoint. We went for
the buffet and everything on it was delish. The fried chicken was golden
crunchy, moist and not greasy. Those sausages were the highlight for me. The
green beans, mac and cheese, red beans and rice were all stars. The peach
“cobbler” wasn’t what us northeners are used to. DC’s cobbler was more like a
peach bread pudding. We like our kind of cobbler with the strips of dough
better.
Not much needs to be said about this monument of great (cheap and abundant)
Cuban food. I’ve been a few times with bf, who happens to hail from the island
of son and rum, and I have loved the food every single time.
The four of us ate here and felt the food was just OK and probably won’t go
back again. We chose this place because of the high ratings, but to us, it
wasn’t as good as others have rated it.
When I think of Savannah, images of Forsyth Park and the surrounding beautiful
architecture pop into my mind. Elizabeth on 37th is one mile south of Forsyth
Park. The restaurant is set within a 1900s Southern Mansion. The cuisine
focuses on local seafood, local greens, even greens from their own garden. I
cannot think of another restaurant that better represents Savannah than this
one.

This was the best restaurant I’ve ate at in the twin cities. WOW! We had the
steak tartar with the Oyster Shooter - It was heaven in my mouth! The tartar
was unbelievable, and i never want to eat an Oyster a different way. We then
had a pesto pasta type thing…there was a foam on top that was to die for. We
also split a steak with tater tots, which I was apprehensive about, but believe
me, these are not the same tots that Napoleon Dynamite eats from his pocket, so
give them a…
This is my current favorite restaurant on planet Earth! I cannot say enough
good things about this place. From the work they do to help people learn to be
chefs/cooks to the amazing food, this place is a jewel of culinary mastery. I
LOVE FARE START.
After parking my rental car, I found myself wandering around the North End area
of downtown Boston. I was looking for a place to have a late lunch before
heading on to Logan airport. After meandering around Salem street and Hanover
street, I spotted this place as it looked open and inviting as well as offering
counter service.
This place is rustic yet refined… it truly reminds me of a little bistro in
the French countryside. I love the thought of nose-to-tail, organic,
locally-sourced dining, which is exactly what kind of restaurant this place is.
There’s nothing like tasting food the way it SHOULD taste!
Was visiting friends and family in the South and had previously seen this
restaurant featured on Andrew Zimmern’s Bizarre Foods so wanted to try it. OMG
was this place wonderful!
To many in the North End, Maria’s is the home of some of the best, authentic,
and the most thoroughly delicious Italian pastries in all of Boston. They look
delectable, smell divine and taste fabulous. At Easter, Maria’s is a “must”
destination. So, the next time you’re in the North End, try a few of these
favored treats.
Even my mom would approve of their Spicy Pork Kimchi Fried Rice! I hope she
doesn’t see this. Yes, my traditional Korean mom is an amazing cook and she
makes “bomb” kimchi and kimchi fried rice. Good kimchi = good kimchi fried
rice. Enough about my mom.
Allow me to backtrack….thank goodness my boo was driving because I would have
easily driven past this place…well not really…it is painted hot pink..so I
take that back. Ha. Walking in…we were greeted and told to seat ourselves. We
decided to order the Fried Chicken dinner with 2 sides (lima beans, Okra soup)
and the Fried Fish dinner with another 2 sides (white rice, okra soup) +
cornbread. Note to my fellow yelpers: Come with an appetite!!!
Was last here about 4 years ago, and remember the kunafah being much better. It
was ok this time - nice and gooey, but something was missing. On the plus side,
they have a selection of sugar-free sweets. Think I’ll go back for kunafah
instead to Shatila, which definitely has a larger selection and is nicer on the
inside than Masri sweets.
We have great memories from our previous trip to Charleston, so we chose to
reminisce at this delicious restaurant that we loved before. We stopped in for
dessert and were seated shortly after our arrival.
Ortega’z Southewestern Grill and Wine Bar brings some cultural spice to
Downtown Manteo with a relaxed atmosphere for lunch or dinner or catered event
in either of the two dining rooms on or the covered outdoor patio.
The lines may be long and it’s cash only, but this is the holy grail of all
burgers. Try them once, and you’ll keep coming back. Seating area is limited,
but there are plenty of nice picnic groves in the surrounding forest preserves
a short drive away.
