As for the bar itself: this place is tiny, but that suits me just fine. Dark
wood everywhere, dim lighting and a jazz trio playing in the corner: it’s
definitely rocking that speakeasy vibe. And the host had a handlebar mustache.
Husband and I had lunch here the week before Christmas. We had the hamburger
with fries and I have to say we both enjoyed it very much. The decor is
charming, although not quite as eclectic as before and I kinda wish it was
still so….but it’s still very nice. I do think they may still need a bit of
help with staffing and customer service technique but all in all it was a good
lunch and I’d be happy to go back.
Fried chicken livers with gravy. Under $4. Yeah this is not fast food. Avoided
the “typical” menu items and went straight for the soul food selections. Not
disappointed in the least. Food was everything I expected: all the fried stuff
perfectly crunchy, the fried chicken being the standout. Meatloaf was like
grandma made, if she was from the deep South.
If I had a last meal on earth, it would be a hot dog. But you know what… a
hot dog isn’t really a hot dog to me. It was all I would eat for years growing
up. Every day, same ritual after school, steaming a dog and bun. It is one of
the foods that just brings me back to happy days every time.
Spectacular! I cannot comment on its sandwiches, which most people go there
specifically for, but their salads are absolutely marvelous!
Tommy Burgers are a part of LA history. If you haven’t tried a Tommy Burger,
you’re not a true Angeleno. Located on Beverly & Rampart in the heart of
Filipinotown, Tommy’s has been a part of LA for numerous decades.
I am so happy to have found a German restaurant that serves an assortment of
tasty vegetarian food! This place is by far better than Leopolds.
My son is obsessed with fire trucks so when mom suggested a BBQ place with a
firehouse theme, I knew it would be a hit even if the food was just okay. So I
was pleasantly surprised that the food was very tasty.
Well, duh. Five stars. Anyone who rates this less is just being a contrarian,
or they’re too picky. Or they hate the French. Or laundry. Actually, most
people don’t like laundry, so that may not be an accurate assessment. But the
French one still stands.
This place should seriously be the standard for excellent authentic Mexican
dining experience.
Galatoire’s is a New Orleans staple and I am so glad I was able to get in.
This is one of the hardest places to get a reservation for in the French
Quarter. I was informed that if you go between 5-6pm you can get a seat as a
walk in. We did just that and it worked out perfectly. All men need a jacket
but if you don’t bring one you can borrow one from the restaurant.
Ever since hearing favorable comments about the Menudo at Garcia’s on the Food
Network, I’ve wanted to stop and give it a try. It is a bit sketchy looking to
a gringo like me. A few guys were standing outside. Presumably, looking for
work, waiting on a ride, or whatever. They were all friendly enough.
I come here with my non-Vietnamese family every month or so. Great phô.
Authetic Vietnamese staff and accents really make you feel like you’re in
Vietnam.
Look, the Hampden restaurant community needs to have a collective “let’s get
our shit together guys” moment.
Best taco place in Dallas, bar none. Paris TX taco is fabulous, I get it every
time. The Paris is filled with fluffy scrambled eggs, spinach and wonderful
flank steak with a roasted tomato hollandaise sauce….so good! Hotlanta is my
second favorite, pretty good too.
Haven’t “eaten” here in a couple years but stopped in for drinks and apps at
the bar one night recently before heading over to Strip House and must say that
it has not lost its touch. This is certainly one of those restaurants, much
like Gramercy Tavern, that has withstood the test of time in the evolving NYC
restaurant culture.
The leek/whatever dumplings tasted like all leek. That’s why I’m calling them
“leek/whatever,” I don’t remember what they were marketed as containing, but
you couldn’t taste it. Just buy the soup dumplings and be glad you did.
My mom and I were shopping when we overhead someone talking about this place.
We were trying to figure out where to go for dinner and decided to give this a
shot. I’m glad we did. It sits just off the dining concourse at Grand Central
Station and is really rather beautiful.
The U.S. Grant has been a longstanding favorite hotel of mine. I also still
dream of the day I can go back to attend a Sunday or Holiday Brunch - nom nom
nom nom.
Definitely a pleasant surprise! Went in here shortly after 5 o’clock on a
Saturday evening after the flea closed for the winter. We were hungry and
didn’t want to go back out in the cold later on. It was so worth it.
