Diners Drive-Ins and Dives
Such were the words uttered by my friends and I collectively as we attempted to
eat at Burma Star one sunny afternoon. Alas, it was a 15 minute wait. Usually,
I have no problem with waiting that long, however we had not eaten all day. A
quick search on the trusty Yelp app revealed this nifty spot nearby. A quick
walk and we were there.
Great little restaurant on Maple Ave. I’ve only eaten inside once. Had
enchiladas and pozole. Both were quite good. Regularly stop here to grab
quick takeout when I just need a quick simple meal. Good queso, fantastic
spicy salsa (that doesn’t have onions, so I’m a HUGE fan) and I actually like
their refried beans and rice. Normally I don’t care for either except at one
other local place known for their green cilantro salsa.
To say The BBQ Shack is amazing would be an understatement. This Paola eatery
is a top place for me. I have never been disappointed. The food is out of this
world. There is nothing they don’t do right. Meat is so flavorful and moist. I
love their ribs, brisket, sausage. I usually can’t decide on what to get
because I want a little bit of everything.
I tried this place out again. It was amazing. The ribs were big and juicy, so
good. The sides were delicious. The service was on top of it and gave my friend
and I great suggestions on beer and rib pairings.
The pork belly buns were really good as was the Mister Miyagi. Skip the $25
duck liver burger. It was good but it wasn’t as nearly good as the other
burgers that were half the price.
It was difficult to find this place, as it is tucked away in a neighborhood
against a railroad line and adjacent an apartment-looking office park. But it
was cute and tasty.
Love bang! My wife and I love going to anything that has been on Food Network
and this is classic American food done very well.
This place is a no brainer. Awesome food, great atmosphere, and very cool
staff. Go there dummy.
It’s hard for me to go 5 stars on much of anything so this is me saying that I
had a great experience at this place. It is a fairly bare bones type of drive
in so depending on what someone values when dining out I can see where certain
people may not find this place to be as great as others.
All I can say is that this place is great. I loved sitting on the long table
next to people I did not know and looking at what everyone was eating. I was
greeted by the owner at the door and it set the stage for a super great lunch.
Come on down and experience the best burger you will ever had. Thank you to the
Bartley’s for keeping to the original plan. My hats off to you.
also does catering, please call
One of the landmark fast food places in America. Gets extra points for being
one of the very few places that serves fried chicken gizzards.
I got the octopus mofongo - unbelievably delicious. I ordered the large, which
is a little pricey, but that also means leftovers for the next day.
Delicious pastrami and corned beef awesome stuffed cabbage and kreplach.
The most memorable local eateries along the highways and back roads of America
So I tried their empanadas and watermelon Margarita on Sunday, I never had
empanadas, so I don’t know if they are the best, but I think they are great!
Came here on a Thursday around lunch time. I wasn’t crazy about the 1 hour wait
time for a booth so my gf and I opted for counter seats.
This place has great food, the pork belly, oyster and shrimp po’ boys are worth
the trip. Their Fish and Chips are out of sight. Word of warning this is a
fast food dive, so don’t expected to get served by a hot waitress. Little isn’t
that cute, but he can cook. If your looking for great food, this is the place.
Brisket was tender and moist. The moose nuggets were good but spicy. My wife
loved her chicken and the creamed corn side. The best meal we had in Fairbanks.
Home made Wedding Soup, Big Portions for a good price, a nice place for your
