Diners Drive-Ins and Dives
Funky place, off the street in a basement. Smells heavenly. We decided to
visit because my husband is a fan of Guy Fieri and he was here last month. It
was our first time and lots of yummy choices.
La Isla Restaurant serves authentic Cuban cuisine. Open for breakfast, lunch,
dinner and brunch with daily specials. Let us cater your party.
The owner Bill was very accommodating in terms of getting my wife and me seated
to wait for the six people in our party (which is not the norm here).
Pastabilities was our first choice to dine at on our first night in Syracuse.
It had great reviews and we took advantage of that. The place was hopping with
people and a great atmosphere and ambiance.
It’s official - my husband and I agree that the Brine and Bottle is our
favorite restaurant. Fresh ingredients, daily menu variety, relaxed
atmosphere, and perfect culinary skills in the kitchen = winning combination.
I wish they could open one in Maryland. We came in July and fell in love with
the place, so we knew we had to make a stop next time we visited OBX.
Chili John’s has been proudly serving Burbank’s motley characters for 65 years.
Today, it is one of the oldest continuously running restaurants in Burbank,
California.
I was pleasantly surprised by the creamy humus and flavorful kofta kabobs. The
rice was also tasty.
What a bustling and fun place! I went here with my familia for dinner and we
had a great time.
Their veal and peppers are legendary….moist, tender and flavorful. It
comes with no sides, so you have to order pasta, potatoes, etc…. Their
salad is not a good choice….a few lettuce leaves with 1-2 olives, 1-2
tomatoes….lots of water at the bottom of the bowl….go with the pasta or
fries.
Ya know that movie Beerfest? KC tried to watch it on HBO with some girl he was
“dating” but we chose to have Sexfest instead. Later on, he actually watched
it. How it didn’t win an Oscar, KC will never know. (KC should have also won an
Oscar for his sexing of that girl but we’ll get to that another time)
Growing up outside of NYC, I’ve sampled some great sandwiches at a variety of
NYC delis; however, one of the most delicious sandwich experiences I’ve had is
at a small shop nestled in the heart of Brookline.
My husband, daughter and I visited here for a late lunch in the middle of the
week. We saw it had been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives on the Food
Network and wanted an excuse to check out Annapolis.
We experienced our first taste of Southern hospitality here at Dixie Supply
Bakery and Cafe. We ordered and paid for our order of Shrimp and Grits. Then
it was realized that they were out of shrimps. So instead of cancelling our
order (which would have been understandable), they quickly found a way to get
more and got our order to us in less than 30 minutes! This great service is
not something I’m used to out in here California.
Stopped by to pick up some dinners to take to my parents’ house. We ordered
four plates: teri furikake salmon, ahi belly, fried poke, and smoked meat with
onions.
This place beats most, if not all of the Italian restaurants in the North End.
Coming in on a Saturday around 2, the place was full but we were able to get a
table for 5 right away.
While visiting RI on vacation one evening, my husband and I met up with some
family friends and had dinner at Medierraneo. As a former Rhode Islander, I had
always heard good things about Mediterraneo but had never eaten there.
Our fourth trip to Memphis Barbecue turns out just like the other three. This
place rocks.
I dined there on a busy Friday evening. The food was very good. The service
was fine at our table, but one of the servers was running around almost manic.
She was our “cashier” and was so frantic that she was a little rude when I
didn’t talk fast enough when I was telling her what I had…she was in such a
hurry to serve others that she was kinda rude to some of us. For the food,
it’s definitely worth another visit! For the service, not so much.
I know nothing about Polish food. I actually have never had a pierogi in my
life. As far as I knew, they were those things filled with cabbage, and I
don’t do cabbage. My husband convinced me to try Patti’s after reading about
the place on Yelp and reading the menu.
The food was fresh, it was obviously prepared that day. The pizza was warm - it
didn’t even need to go in the oven since it was a summer day. The sandwich was
reasonably priced and well-prepared. There was a sample plate of delicious
pizza bread on the countertop.
