Diners Drive-Ins and Dives
Chili Frank Plate and other “local style” plate lunches. Their burgers are good
too!
I went for dinner before Blue Man group. We were seated at the deuce (2-top)
located directly in front of the street entrance. There were plenty of other
tables at 6:00 p.m. that should have been offered to us. Needless to say,
every time guests came in, we were blasted with cold air. It was very
uncomfortable being so chilly in such a cavernous, drafty space. The table
also got cramped when anyone came in to be seated.
I happened to catch the Diners, Drive-ins and Dives TV show with SOB on it.
Great Going! It was very cute and I enjoyed every minute! I suppose my new
fav may get busier … but I’m sure it will still be worth the wait!
I can’t believe I’ve never been to this hidden treasure! This place reminds me
of one of the cute off the road cottages/cafe’s that had that lazy country
Hawaii feel. We were passing through Waimanalo on our way home and needed to
eat something asap. Since we barely come into Waimanalo, we decided to try this
place out. Wow, what a great decision that was!
Argh super crowded late on a weeknight. Apparently no one sleeps around here.
Southern fried chicken was delish.
Bop n Grill, why did you open a better location at Loyola instead of NU :’[
I’ll probably never cook again.
So my friend told me that Anthonino’s Taverna is probably the best Italian
restaurant in this area called the Hill (think of it as the Little Italy in
St.Louis). So I checked the restaurant’s website and found that Guy Fieri of
the Food Network actually came and visited this place. So I was quite excited
to come here for the dinner.
Italian Corner is the real deal: a small grocery store selling all manner of
Old Country staples, from olive oil, to pasta, to pesto, to coffee: really,
seriously good coffee. There’s also a grocery counter that serves up fresh,
delicious Italian dishes on a daily basis. If you are lucky enough to work in
the neighborhood, there’s no other consideration for lunch.
At the recommendation (insistence) of Amanda Z., I finally made it to Opal Thai
while a few friends were in town…and as soon as I took my first bite, I was
furious with myself for not making the trek out to the North Shore months
sooner!
Where do the locals brunch? Three Angels Diner is your answer. The brainchild
of local chef, Jason Severs, already revered for his Italian fine-dining
restaurant, Bari (ahem! incredible), this place offers up the kind of breakfast
you imagine coming out of your grandmother’s kitchen, especially if your
grandma is a chef with an eye for flavorful combinations (aren’t they all?).
I’m a regular Friday lunch patron, I work in the neighborhood. I recommend
Joe’s for the friendly service and the cold beer. If you’re looking for gourmet
food, this isn’t the place. It’s decent lunch/pub grub if you know what to
order.
Just love it. Totally captures the feeling of a real New England summer. It is
a place were you can really think back on and remember exactly the feelings you
had going there. Real deal major league here. It is the Don Henleys’ Boys of
summer for dine ins. You might hear that song and think of this place after you
go!
In the movie “Silverado,” Kevin Kline spends a lot of his time looking for a
real saloon. This is how I feel about Dressel’s. This is one of my go-to places
when I’m out with friends or on a date. The Central West End is one of the best
places in St. Louis for atmosphere, and people-watching. And Dressel’s is one
of the best places in the CWE. It has a great decor, lots of space, and just
feels very comfortable, especially in winter.
When you want to duck into a small and cozy neighborhood restaurant that is
unfailingly consistent in quality and service, look no further than Edgewood
Cafe. This is what they mean when they say “all the comforts of home” in a
dining out experience.
The lemongrass wheat is very tasty. Unfortunately my burger was a bit on the
burnt side and service was just average. Overall not a bad place though. I’ll
give it another chance.
Food Coma. This about sums up what you will experience after eating here. We
visited for the second time just last night. The wait is always long, 1.5 hours
is average, thankfully it was a lovely night so we order cocktails and sat
outside.
Ortega’z Southewestern Grill and Wine Bar brings some cultural spice to
Downtown Manteo with a relaxed atmosphere for lunch or dinner or catered event
in either of the two dining rooms on or the covered outdoor patio.
The lines may be long and it’s cash only, but this is the holy grail of all
burgers. Try them once, and you’ll keep coming back. Seating area is limited,
but there are plenty of nice picnic groves in the surrounding forest preserves
a short drive away.
We decided to try the restaurant after we heard that Guy Fieri filmed Espinos
for his Triple D show.
Kitty Hoynes opened July 1999 and is named after David’s mother Catherine
(Kitty).
