Man v. Food
The next night we started our bar-tour here so it was pretty dead, but it was
also really early. Our bartender (I think his name was Taylor?) completely
remembered us even though we only got one drink from him the night before – I
found that pretty impressive too!
The ambiance is essentially a more frightening windowless version of waffle
house. Before we ordered, my compatriots and I faced the cooks and watched in
awe at the enormity of portions, the speed of delivery, and the amount of
tattoos. I am so going to regret this… but probably in a good way.
Came here for lunch before we headed back out on the road to Houston. It was
packed and the line was out the door. I had heard about Mother’s restaurant
from a friend who recently took a trip out to NOLA and I noticed that Mother’s
was also a Zagat rated restaurant, so.. I had to try it.
Although the dining room is a little small munchies is exactly what you think
it would be. I got the hogie with the mac and cheese on it and could only
finish half because I felt my heart coming to a slow halt.
The first real meal I had in 2 days after a 10 hour road trip, fast food and
snacks from 7-Eleven.
Got the famous bacon dusted fries which were delicious! I loved how hot and
fresh they were-and all that cheese!
Awesome place to get a good burger in Durham. Desserts were also phenomenal -
would definitely recommend the peanut butter chocolate cake.
My order was great, I really enjoyed it. Poor BP, he didn’t like his order at
all. It contained very little crab and didn’t taste as good as we thought it
would.
Good food at great prices. The Dagwood is literally POUNDS of lunch meat piled
on a sourdough roll with another pound of fries on the side. Where else can you
get roughly 5 pounds of food for around $12 including tip?!
When it comes to bar food and dining on the waterfront in Sarasota this Old
Salty Dog is hard to top. After my first time here it was difficult not let it
become habit forming, but then again why not! During the summers we would help
out with a surf camp for kids which was a blast even with the heat and sun
going full blast.
Orochon gives quite large portions which is always nice, and I usually order
extra noodles towards the end because I still have a ton of broth left over.
They have quite a few extra ingredients you can choose from to add to your
ramen. The shoyu can be a little salty for some, but I prefer it that way.
Just watched a re-run of a Man verses Food episode featuring a wealthy man,
Jennings Osborne, who does Humongous BBQ’s for Firefighters, Police men and
others from all over the state of AR. What a Spread!
Stopped in for dinner. It’s as mom and pop as one can expect. The service was
helpful and friendly. At our table we had ribs, turkey, pulled pork, and
sausage. All were pleased with the meats. The sweet potato fries were crispy
and delicious and the BBQ sauce was great.
This pulled pork was absolutely heavenly. For the KC people that think STL
doesn’t do BBQ well… this is a spot I’d recommend visiting when you’re across
the Show-Me State.
I came here with my Dad on a recent trip to LA. He saw this little joint on the
Food Network and had to try it out and being a lover of meat, sandwiched
between buns,.I didn’t put up a fight.
Ever since my son saw this episode, he’s wanted to go try it. I finally did a
business trip nearby, and talked my colleagues, (the Global Master Consultant
from Munch and the BMW coach who drives BMWs) into trying this place.
This place. I don’t have words. We went there on recommendation from friends in
Chicago, where we live, and don’t regret it. I only regret not getting some of
that crazy-good bread and coleslaw to go.
Good if you have a wing craving although the wings could be meatier. Extensive
sauce choices but limited menu otherwise. Long waits between ordering and tray
pick-up at the name calling window.
Sometimes when I’m either trying to recover or just want some good ol’ comfort
food, I know I can rely on RU Hungry and the Grease Trucks to deliver.
I went back and forth on giving this 4 stars over 3 stars, but ended up with 4
stars. Overall, the place is pricey but the pizza is so freaking fantastic,
that I keep going back. I used to frequent the Manchester shop but when we
moved to the NE corner, I was totally excited to see that they opened a shop on
the UCONN Campus. They had a groupon deal recently, so that was a bonus as
well.
