The Best Thing I Ever Ate
I’m addicted to The Sow’s Ear but we decided to try a new place. It was just
ok. The atmosphere and service were just fine, not anything spectacular. I
can’t remember much about the food, other than it was, again, just fine.
One of my favorite restaurants. I haven’t been here in a couple of years and
have been meaning to come back. But I’m never in the area and the parking there
is no bueno.
But hey, when millionaires are dropping into your shop and money is no object,
I guess it makes good business sense to fleece them as much as possible. For
the rest of us, it’s a sign that we’re shopping in Bizarro World.
The great thing about my beloved borough of Brooklyn is that there are some
phenomenal neighborhood restaurants - particularly Italian ones – on the
quaintest of street blocks. Noodle Pudding in Brooklyn Heights. Fragole in
Carroll Gardens. And Locanda Vini e Olii, which admittedly, I had not heard of
until recently.
Their breakfast is BY FAR THE BEST! And although it’s not very much Greek or
Mediterranean, it’s still amazing regardless.
Lolita was one of the better restaurants that I’ve gone to in a while. This
tiny place serves up some amazing eats with a menu courtesy of Cleveland’s own
Iron Chef Michael Symon. The restaurant is real cozy, warm, and intimate. The
decor worked rather well despite how weird it could look. The place isn’t very
bright, but I love it for the dark and warm intimacy it exudes. Menu offered up
some interesting and unique items that beg to be tried. Servers were wonderful
but were so…
Definitely a must try if you are in the Fort Worth area! Try the kangaroo
nachos and the rattlesnake off the starter menu. Or better yet, get a handful
of the starters as a tasting. Ask the servers. They’ll be able to put
together a nice spread for you.
If you are in Cleveland from out of town…especially LA, Texas, or the
southwest, you probably shouldn’t bother eating here. You will have far too
biased an opinion on what Mexican inspired food should taste like. Also, if
you’ve only eaten at Mexican places where the name starts with “El” and
contains the name of a resort town in Mexico, you also should steer clear- you
can’t get a “combo plate” of sodium for $5.99.
Loteria Grill was pretty darn good tonight! I don’t know why or how I had no
clue this was here until I looked upstairs today and saw their sign.
This is a great place. The menu is huge so we asked the waiter (so helpful!)
to recommend some of the restaurant’s specialties. What we were served was an
array of food that you don’t see at most Thai restaurants in the US. Where’s
the Pad Thai? Where’s the chicken satay?
Great food off the beaten path served in a cool and welcoming environment. I’ve
been to Lovin Oven 2-3 times now and every time I leave fuller than the last.
The eggs benedict is the best I’ve had yet. I have traveled all over and
compare my favorite breakfast entree to many nice restaurants, but Lucky’s has
thickly shredded ham on top of a great textured english muffin and egg with
hallondaise sauce.
I’ve been here for a loud girl’s night and a date, and both times I went balls
to the wall with the food and draaank.
I do have to say: I wasn’t too impressed with the service at first. A bartender
who asks us three times whether or not we want to have an alcoholic beverage
with our brunch (once should have been enough to determine we really only want
coffee and OJ). And then the 30 minute wait until our food finally made it to
the bar…
Well, duh. Five stars. Anyone who rates this less is just being a contrarian,
or they’re too picky. Or they hate the French. Or laundry. Actually, most
people don’t like laundry, so that may not be an accurate assessment. But the
French one still stands.
This place should seriously be the standard for excellent authentic Mexican
dining experience.
Galatoire’s is a New Orleans staple and I am so glad I was able to get in.
This is one of the hardest places to get a reservation for in the French
Quarter. I was informed that if you go between 5-6pm you can get a seat as a
walk in. We did just that and it worked out perfectly. All men need a jacket
but if you don’t bring one you can borrow one from the restaurant.
Ever since hearing favorable comments about the Menudo at Garcia’s on the Food
Network, I’ve wanted to stop and give it a try. It is a bit sketchy looking to
a gringo like me. A few guys were standing outside. Presumably, looking for
work, waiting on a ride, or whatever. They were all friendly enough.
I come here with my non-Vietnamese family every month or so. Great phô.
Authetic Vietnamese staff and accents really make you feel like you’re in
Vietnam.
Look, the Hampden restaurant community needs to have a collective “let’s get
our shit together guys” moment.
