Don’t even know where to start with this review… Wish I could give a detailed
review of everything I ate but I kind of blacked out (or minor cardiac arrest?)
halfway through due too bacon overload. JK no such thing as too much bacon.
Sarah does a great job reviewing some of the standouts at the fest. Some of my
favorites to add on (although not limited to) are:
Best mint chocolate chip ice cream I’ve ever had. I go now just to get the
pints of it. It’s a great deal for 4 bucks!
Our cheesemaking kitchens, in Seattle’s Pike Place Market and the Flatiron
District in New York, are living museums where visitors witness the 5,000 year
old art of making cheese combined with a 21st century commitment to quality and
purity.
Had a great time here with my husband before the Grandaddy concert next door at
the Fonda theater. Good atmosphere, excellent beer selection, good grub and
nice service. What more could you ask for?
I had been dying to try this place for a long time, and I finally got the
chance. Yes, the sundaes here are pricey, but they are also really good. I
stopped by here with a friend for a treat. We split a Grilled Cheese and then
the Warm Brownie Sundae.
This place is badass. I love Central BBQ. Way better than TOPS and the
atmosphere is also top notch. The sauces are always warm and perfectly spiced.
I love all the food here but usually go for the BBQ Turkey plate. I jokingly
call Central BBQ the “Hippie BBQ Joint” but I mean that well… young folks
that love their job making great food and providing excellent service. Anytime
Im in the area (and there not a line out the door.. LOL) I try and stop and get
my BBQ Fix.
WOW flavors everywhere! So many choices, it’s probably impossible not to find
something you like. And then you have to figure out if you want a cookie bowl,
pretzel cone, dipped waffle cone, or plain sugar/wafer cone - overwhelming to
say the least.
So we had an issue with our delivery experience, but the customer service there
is amazing because they handled our situation wonderfully!! They re sent out
our correct order and didn’t charge us for the pizza’s and on top if it they
gave us 2 vouchers for free slices next time we come in. So basically we ended
up with a lot of pizza and it was great!
Dyer’s Burgers is Memphis institution that is famous for (of course) burgers.
Legend has it the burgers served here are cooked in 100 year old grease.
People tend to have strong opinions as to weather or not the burgers are
actually good, probably because the patties are very thin and the standard
commercially produced bun used becomes a greasy mess. Personally, I love the
Dyer’s burger! I don’t eat bread so I always get mine without the bun. I like
the triple triple; three…
On Food Network’s Crave, host Troy Johnson checks out Gatton Farms, founded in
1840 in Lexington, KY, where they’ve been making delicious gourmet, premium
bacon since 1950.
Gialina is named after my grandmother Nonni Lina. It is a tribute to my
wonderful Italian family, who came from a town in Italy’s culinary heartland of
Emilia-Romagna. As seen in the restaurant’s family photos, Nonni liked to
surround herself with food and family. My family taught me everything I know
and love about food, cooking and entertaining. Most importantly, cooking food
for others is a great gift.
For supermarket chocolate, Guittard’s the best to bake with period. I
discovered it years ago at a wedding w/ a chocolate fountain. They have it at
Safeway and sometimes it’s buy one, get one free, but the regular price is
comparable to the inferior brands like Nestle, Hershey’s, Ghirardelli anyway.
My fave is the milk chocolate cuz I’m gluttonous but their others are good as
well.
This is the hidden gem of Chicago. I flew in from San Francisco last week and
could navigate my way from the airport just from the memory of eating Harold’s
5 years ago. The memory of the spices wafting in my face as I took bite after
juicy bite haunted me for years. No one on the west coast understands Harold’s
Chicken and if one more person tries to empathize with Popeye’s or KFC, I’m
gonna kick them in the knees ‘cause they just don’t get it.
Mary and Vincent Grittani open a small tavern—seating just 40 people—on the
South Side of Chicago. A baseball from a neighborhood game breaks one of the
front windows, and Home Run Inn is born.
J&D’s Foods are the brainchild of Justin and Dave, who with their mutual love
of bacon created Bacon Salt. Bacon Salt is a low sodium, zero calorie, zero
fat, vegetarian and kosher seasoning that makes everything taste like bacon.
It’s great on steaks, chops, eggs, salads and more.
My special someone took me here for my birthday this year. For the most part,
he chose this place because it is one of the TOP recommended restaurants that
allow pets to dine with you! (We have two puppy terriers.)
Having grandparents from Mississippi makes me a hard critic on soul food
establishments. I like the food here but I can’t claim to be a fan. I’d rather
have the soul food here than no soul food at all and since my Granny no longer
cooks, Motor City it is.
We went inside and after waiting for about 5 minutes without being acknowledged
or having any signage indicating what we were supposed to be doing, a server
came up and asked if we wanted carry-out or were waiting for pick-up. I replied
that we were there to dine.
I went to Hominy Grill with my wife and her cousin while visiting Charleston
recently. We had seen this restaurant featured on the food network and travel
channel so it was one place we had to check out while in town and we were not
disappointed.
Great selection of quality olive oils, vinegars, and italian meats. Also,
Raymond who has a little demo station every saturday morning is really a
fountain of knowledge! It was a great way to learn more about olive oils and
vinegars.
