First of all, there is just someting to be said for crazy friendly people. The hostess, our waitress, the bus-girl- all incredibly nice people who left me feeling good. That alone will make me come back to 3 Sisters.

Jerseys Cafe

tv show: Diners Drive-Ins and Dives

Like many folks, we discovered Jersey's Cafe thanks to Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives. We visit family in Indy regularly so made it a point to stop for lunch last weekend and pay tribute to our Jersey roots.

Steer-In Restaurant

tv show: Diners Drive-Ins and Dives

Steer In, how did I never grace your presence in my three years in Indianapolis? In fact, how did I never even hear of this Indianapolis East Side Staple. A traditional diner specializing in the best hangover cures in the city, Steer In is frequented by East Side locals primarily, but serves a mean omelet for anyone willing to "make the trek" down 10th avenue.

The Tamale Place

tv show: Diners Drive-Ins and Dives

We were in the mood for some authentic Mexican cuisine, but we knew we weren't going to find that at a chain restaurant, so we took the advice of the nearly 100 reviewers and tried something new. Wow! I wasn't expecting what I received. The cashiers must have thought we were crazy ordering multiple items. No one charges $2.50 for a big taco or $3.25 for a giant tamale, right? Wrong. So incredibly wrong.

Zest-Exciting Food Creations

I had been avoiding Zest after encountering an...interesting combo of popcorn and what I think might have been yogurt at Dig Indiana, but when I found myself very hungry in Broad Ripple my fiance and I decided to give it a try.

The Barking Dog Cafe

tv show: Diners Drive-Ins and Dives

Just outstanding! ....the best BLT sandwich I've ever had. Hearty, flavorful, crunchy, yet so fresh tasting. It's one of those things you eat than instantly get a craving for days later- again and again. Their seafood which my friend had was equally fresh tasting and portions were incredibly filling.

Edward's Drive-In

tv show: Man v. Food

We decided to roadtrip it down to Edwards on the south side of Indy after seeing it on an episode of Man Vs. Food. My Mom is a huge tenderloin fan, so we went with her.

Bub's Burgers & Ice Cream

tv show: Man v. Food

Service was genuine and perfect! It was genuine, great beer recommendations as well as menu recommendations and warm and friendly. What's not to love? Don't ask me why we didn't get a burger a burger place maybe it was because the mahi mahi burger looked just edgy and tempting enough for us to take a risk? Brilliant. You can totally paleo-ify this by ordering without a bun and order veggies on the side. Great pico de gallo topping.

Gray Brothers Cafeteria

tv show: Man v. Food

The same person has been making the noodles and pie crust for like 40 something years. On top of all this it is ridiculously cheap and the whole building looks like its from the pioneer days. If you're in Indianapolis you need to go here.

Hilltop Inn

tv show: The Best Thing I Ever Ate

Ah the West Side Country Club. I just wish I could go there more often. This is one of the corner stones of Evansville. My favorite thing there is either the Hilltopper Burger or a Fish Sandwich (especially during Lent). If you haven't been to the Hilltop then you are missing out on the best tavern food in Evansville.

Shapiro's Deli

tv show: The Best Thing I Ever Ate

I got the corned beef hash that people were hyping about in these reviews and I thought it was okay. The sandwich wasn't big but the price sure was. If anything, it reminded me of The Hat's pastrami dip (back in California) and how that would've only cost me a little more than half as much while getting 2-3x the portions.

Now if you get sticker shock, this may not be the place for you. But if you don't mind paying a lot for a good meal, you have to try this (don't forget the shrimp cocktail sauce).
