Danny's Deli

tv show: $24 in 24

I don't think you can miss here to be honest. I've gone here for breakfast several times and always got the breakfast burrito, which is really good. They put the hashbrowns inside which is never a bad idea. As much as I hate to admit it, I've had breakfast here and ordered sandwiches to take home for later. They're that good. I like the lunches better than breakfast. Corned beef, pastrami...you name it, they're all great. The New Yorker is my favorite because it's loaded with meat and cole slaw.

Palookaville Chili

tv show: $24 in 24

Finally i show up when the place is open. The chili is made in house from scratch according to the guy working. Price point was spot on. Actually I thought the portions were generous. Great food. Only suggestion would be to stick to a bowl with either rice or mac. The burrito was awesome but a bitch to eat as the consistency of the chili was just not meant to be held. Put it in a bowl and all was saved.

Westside Market

tv show: $24 in 24

One of the oldest public market places in the country!! Cleveland West side market is a must visit location for everyone who lives in the cleveland metro area. It has the essential qualities of every urban oasis of good food like reading terminal market in Philly and Pike place in Seattle. I have visited this place multiple times in past year for groceries and vegetables. There are many reasons for it including freshness of the content, taste and the ambiance. The most important reason is the people who work here.

Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream

tv show: America's Best

Originally I wanted to hate this place because I'm from Cincinnati and it's a general rule that I despise everything in Columbus. But that was before I went to Short North and before I tasted Jeni's. How can you not love this adorable little ice cream shop. Although the hype is a bit much, and if the line is long then come back when it's shorter. But the flavors are interesting, unique, and delicious. Even if it is a bit overpriced, the cuteness make's it worth it!

Czuchraj Meats

tv show: America's Best

This place has completely changed my life--and by life I mean how I understand jerky. I guess I was conditioned to believe that it came only in zip-locked packages that required extreme jaw muscles to gnaw through. True story: I've actually given myself a headache from attempting to chew jerky.

The West Side Market

tv show: Bizarre Foods America

I absolutely love this place! It has taken me some time, but I have finally found the stands that I prefer and I couldn't be happier. I can easily do 90% of my shopping at the market and everything is always fresh, mostly local to Ohio and some organic. As for the architecture...incredible!!! As soon as you walk in and look up...WOW! Also going upstairs and seeing the view from atop...amazing! It can get really crowded here on Saturdays, so if you can, try to make it Mon, Wed or Fri. It will be a lot easier to get around (not so many strollers and lollygaggers). If you're new here, it will be a lot easier to find the stands that you will grow to love as the vendors will have more time to talk and share what their stand is all about.

Ray's Sausage

tv show: Bizarre Foods America

Ray's sells souse, sausage and head cheese and is available in many smaller inner city grocey stores here in Cleveland. Their food tastes just like you would expect. If you wait, you can often find their products on a BOGO deal near the end of the week. Half-price sausage is not meant as gourmet fare. My previous review mentioned that when there were eleven dead bodies next door, Ray's owners told neighbors they would replace the drainage traps on their sewers in an attempt to deal with the smell. It was true. In fact, everything in the review was accurate but my friend David B took offense at the smart-ass tone and had Yelp pull the review which they did. I don't mind... but just because somebody feels sorry for a sausage manufacturer doesn't make their food clean or wholesome. I hope no one takes offense with this review because I'm not sure I care enough to write another one. Besides, this time there's not even a hint of humor in the review.

Katz Club Diner

tv show: Bizarre Foods America

And I give this one....FULL HOUSE! Thank God, recently I had a lot to complain about places I have been, and I like to be a happy camper when I bother to drag myself out and spend money. (I am a bear at heart.) So, I like this place. Originally it took me a while to snoop in, as I heard it was expensive and filled with old people. (I have nothing at all against old people, but sometimes I yearn for that youthful energy!) Also it is no more expensive than Tommy's but you get a load of really delicious stuff for your money, and it looks a tic more elegant. I am not into fancy-fancy but if I can get it in a comfy surrounding I gladly say THANK YOU! Design is great, retro chique. Staff is funky, young sweet kids with good manners. As opposed to Tommy's they learned how to make a nice, in fact: a great cup of tea and will gladly teach you (even if you already know) but that is fine, spread the culture! French toast, yes: eat it! Fruit, yes they have heard of it and it comes in appetizing goblets, do not ask me how but it is better washed than at most places, although I doubt they shop organic, at least you won't overdose pesticides. It is one of the places where I have been now several times and never made it beyond the all day breakfast, as why go stray if you already found your true love? The question is: are you fulfilled (in this case also: filled) or are you not? And I was, each time, both. So I am sure I will come back for more!

The Greenhouse Tavern

tv show: Bizarre Foods America

A friend was visiting from NYC, had heard of Greenhouse Tavern, and made lunch reservations for us to catch up. I've been to Greenhouse a number of times, but somehow it's my first review. I really enjoy the place - it doesn't make me walk away wobbly kneed, but it's terrificly creative and delicious.

Geraci's Restaurant

tv show: Diners Drive-Ins and Dives

I loved my meal at Geraci's, but there are a few improvements that can be made. First of all, the place is absolutely tiny! There was a long wait, which is fine, but there's basically no room to actually sit and wait. The tables are so close together, I felt like I was eating with a bunch of strangers. Also, there's no hostess station so you have to make sure you catch the guy taking names so other people don't just ahead of you in line.

I have been coming to Melt pretty much since the day they opened and I have never been disappointed. They always have unique special items on their menu and their regular daily selections are also delish. I have yet to try anything I didn't love. And their beer selection??? I'm in heaven!!
