Noble Pig

tv show: Adam Richman's Best Sandwich in America

Came here a few weeks back with my girlfriend and it was great. these guys know how to make some good sandwiches. I got the Noble Pig and I cleaned my tray. I heard about this place in a USAToday article about the best sandwich places in the country. Odd that this was the only Texas place and I had never heard about it.

Kreuz Market

tv show: America's Best

Sometimes you choose to save the best for last and sometimes it just happens to fall that way. Kreuz Market happens to fall into the latter. On the final trip down to Lockhart to try the Big 3 of BBQ (Black's, Smitty's and Kruez), we showed up at noon on a Saturday and there were probably 8-10 people in front of us which was a bit surprising considering the lines we encountered at the other places were a bit longer and definitely did not move as smoothly.

My gf and I went on our first date to Catalan when Chris Shepard was there and she just loved the lamb. It broke our heart when Catalan closed but we could not wait to try Underbelly. We loved it! She got her lamb and was a happy girl. As I recall the menu theme changes often so you never quite get the same thing twice - which keeps the experience unique each time we go.

Gilhooley's Restaurant

tv show: Bizarre Foods America

A friend of mine who grew up in Clear Lake told me to check this place out. It got good reviews so hubby and I decided to give it a try. We drove for 40 minutes to this place so it better be good! It's kind of out in the middle of nowhere. The parking lot was full, that's a good sign. We walked up to the restaurant and there's plenty of seating outside and inside for those who prefer air conditioning. No children and pets allowed and they only accept cash. You seat yourself and the waitresses will bring over the menus.

Raja Sweets

tv show: Bizarre Foods America

My son loves Indian food. A good friend told me about this hidden secret. We are from South Texas and we always stop here and load up on delicious food. There Somoas are delicious! My sons favorite is Chicken curry with vegetable curry and rice. The best I've eaten so far. I do recommend! You will not be disappointed. The prices are also wonderful.

Crawfish and Noodles

tv show: Bizarre Foods America

Went here over the weekend for a farewell party. We had reservations, so we got to seated immediately. Lucky us we made the reservation and came a bit early because a line started forming after 10mins we sat down. I haven't came here in a while because the last few times I was here I wasn't happy about the price and flavor of the crawfish.

Awwwww Soluna. How much I love thee. Whenever I get a craving for some great, leaning towards the interior Mexican food, ridiculous paella (weekends only- Sunday to be exact), and the best chile en nogados I've ever put in my mouth, this is the place. Picture raisin seasoned picadillo stuffed poblanos drenched in a creamy sauce from heaven. Might I recommend the Platillo Mexicano?

Your Mom's Burger Bar

tv show: Crave

Big, messy, and delicious, a must-try for hamburger fans! I'm a fan of the Frida Kahlo, which is topped with chorizo, guac & a fried egg, its delicious and impossible to eat cleanly. The onion rings complement the burgers quite nicely. The soda fountain is self-serve, which is a big deal for thirsty folks like me. The restaurant is small, but has a hip, divey atmosphere, and the folks working there are very friendly. It all started with Ryan Blackmore’s desire to open a gourmet burger joint serving “one of a kind” stuffed burgers that he had been concocting and a few “smart remarks” from his wife Gina.

Old School BBQ & Grill

Yes, the people that work there are nice, and the smell of smoked BBQ is infatuating. Yes, eating barbecue coming out of a repurposed school bus scores highly on the only-in-Austin-awesomeness test. And yes, eating a BBQ brisket sandwich or steak burger in a trailer park on a warm day in Austin is really a great way of getting a little heaven on Earth.

24 Diner

tv show: Crave

We took all the elements of the concept we liked — classic American cuisine, good service, fun atmosphere — and turned it up about 10 notches. We offer chef-inspired comfort food, local & organic fare, a full bar and a killer beer & wine list. A finer diner, if you will. And you can stop in anytime. We’re open 24 hours a day and located downtown in the heart of Central Austin at 6th and Lamar.

Max's Wine Dive

tv show: Crave

The hubster and I took his mom to Max's for Sunday brunch today. Made a reservation through opentable and our table was reserved when we arrived 5 minutes early. The music was louder than we would have liked, but not obnoxious. The place was full but not incredibly packed at 2:30 PM.
