The W Hotel

tv show: Adam Richman's Best Sandwich in America

First, I love the W Hotels. I've stayed at several and was crazy impressed with the Montreal location. It's epic, go for New Years if you can. Sadly, the DC location leaves a lot to be desired and is an unfortunate reminder that the further South we travel, the less sophistication. Maybe I'm just being super snobby but the middle America weirdo-big-tabacco vibe at the DC location bummed me out.

tv show: Bizarre Foods America

I think the main reason I've waited a while to write this review is that it feels like an epic task to adequately describe the feast for the senses I experienced dining at The Source. I can't even really compute some of the less generous Yelp reviews, because the two times I've eaten at this restaurant the service has been beyond reproach and every single dish I was served fell along a continuum of garden-variety delicious to blow-your-mind exquisite.

Been here for breakfast multiple times; I absolutely LOVE this place! It's your typical diner and they don't offer anything too out-of-the-ordinary from other diners, but this place just makes me happy. It's such an awesome local spot in DC and the perfect place to hit up in the morning after a long night of revelry.

Came here for a romantic evening with my partner. We had a lovely time and spent about 150 dollars on food. The moral of the story is it is expensive and tapas style - which always equates to a hefty bill.

Comet Ping Pong

tv show: Diners Drive-Ins and Dives

Super good. Vibe is perfect. Unfortunately only made it up there twice during the few years I lived in DC. Was pretty long hike from SE, but worth it both times.

Oohhs and Aahhs Soul Food

tv show: Diners Drive-Ins and Dives

I purchased a groupon for this place, which I had no clue was even located on U street. To be honest. I have driven past the location on several occasions but did not think for a minute that there was anything that I would ever want to eat from out of it. But it is the classic dive spot...not so great on the atmosphere but the food is definitely a must!

Tortilla Cafe

tv show: Diners Drive-Ins and Dives

I'm a big fan of Tortilla Cafe because it offers carefully prepared, well seasoned food for reasonable prices. It's really the only reasonably priced restaurant I have found in DC. I' also think that Tortilla Cafe is highly underrated by patrons of Barracks Row and Eastern Market who are often drawn to glitzier places or big box restaurants.

Tune Inn

tv show: Diners Drive-Ins and Dives

For all of you who think this is a 5 star over priced restaurant that will cater to your every need, what is it that you think this place is? It's a bar, a dive bar at that. Their purpose is not to make you feel like royalty when you walk through the doors, their job is to make you feel like a welcome regular human being who wants to sit down and enjoy a couple of drinks, good food, and casual conversation.

Sticky Fingers Bakery

tv show: Cupcake Wars

I've come to Sticky Fingers a few times, usually for dessert. The brownies are AMAZING. I'm really not into their cupcakes. The frosting has the consistency that coats your teeth and makes you feel kinda gross.

Pizza Mart

tv show: Food Wars

I was about to vomit everywhere because I had not been drunk in, like, three months and was on painkillers that say "don't drink too much with these." Life sucked. I was going to die.

Jumbo Slice

tv show: Food Wars

First up, was Jumbo Slice. As advertised, the pizza is pretty big. $6 for a slice seemed kind of steep . . . we all know what the basic ingredients are in a slice of pepperoni pizza and simply enhancing the size a bit doesn't exponentially skyrocket the price.

tv show: Heat Seekers

Wow, Cava Mezze DC is absolutely delicious. I'm a huge fan of the take-out Cava eateries in Bethesda and Tenleytown, so I was excited to try out the actual restaurant. I was very impressed by the selection- it was so hard to pick! I love their dips so naturally the dip tasting was my first selection. I liked all of the dips, especially the hummus and crazy feta. Oh, and the harissa (which comes with your pita bread) is heavenly. Too bad my acid reflux prevents me from eating mounds and mounds of it.

When I first heard there was a "hot dog" joint on Barracks Row, I immediately thought about Weiner Works from back in the day and ignored it. But the lady was curious, checked the pace out and then told me about a hot dog with bulgogi and kimchi on it.

Ben's Chili Bowl

tv show: Man v. Food

Ben's is a DC legend that has become a tourist trap rolled into one. I used to come here back in the early 90's after a night at Republic Gardens or State of The Union. It was good cheap late night food. It's also guaranteed to give you heartburn.

Horace & Dickie's

tv show: Man v. Food

I heard about this place from the show Man vs. Food & always wanted to try it. Not too bad!! Generous portions for $6 that consisted of four long strips of fried fish & two slices of simple white or wheat bread.
