During my week in Alaska, I fell in love with this brewery. I can't explain it; I just love everything about them. I love the font in their logo, I love the artwork on their labels, I love their merchandise, their attitude, their story, and of course best of all I love their beer. In my book, these guys are on par with other dominant regional breweries such as Brooklyn in the Northeast, Bell's in the upper Midwest, and North Coast in northern California. They put out a suite of consistently good beers which deserve to be enjoyed by a wide audience.

Head past to Red Dog Saloon and venture into this place. The bar has some serious old-school charm. The bartender was super friendly. There are tons of different local brews on tap, and the day we were there they had a folk band playing.

Downtown on a summer's evening with nothing to do? Head here for a fun night of philosophical quandaries- it's always the beer talking, right?

Although I live in St. Louis, we frequent Kansas City because of the boyfriend's work, and we usually try to get to some of the local good eats. BB's has been the best find so far! We started with the pulled pork nachos. fantastic! I've had pulled pork nachos many a times, but these were the best. The sweet taste of the BBQ sauce mixed with the chili cheese topping is spot on. The boyfriend had the Big Walter sandwich, which pretty much took all the meats they have, mixed it with the BBQ sauce and piled it on a huge bun. Again, Fantastic! It was served with pit beans, which were a tasty mix of baked beans and jalapenos to give it some zazz, which it did; and battered fries, which was like a potato cut into eighths, dipped in batter, and fried.

Bacon Night was once again a fantastic experience for the palate. The crowded bar that some shrill Scarlett Look-at-me-in-my-big-hat O'Hara kvetched about was merely a good sign of the desirability of the food and drink at Bad Decisions. The workers were constantly mixing fresh drinks from scratch - so yes it take a while to get your order, but you could see the staff was busy and not loafing around. It was hard for the waitress to deliver an order when she had to squeeze between people twice here size, but nevertheless she zig-zagged her way through without having to just stand there.

For as dead as downtown Baton Rouge can be at times, Boudreaux (Boo-Dros) & Thibodeauxs (Ti-Bid-Doughs) can be one of the more lively nightlife venues during the weekend. With it's excellent outdoor space and multilevel seating, it's a more than ideal spot for folks who just want to chill out and drink, or even for folks who feel like grabbing a bite in the heart of one of the more fascinating cities in Louisiana.

Came here during happy hour on the weekday (4-7pm) and had a bowl of mussels. It was only satisfactory considering it was $6 or something. Great drink deals and the views and service. Can only imagine that a real dinner would be superb! Definitely come by to take a look at the city if you have time.

First off, the location and ambiance of this place is great. It's in a gutted house that is very industrial looking on the inside. There is a cozy, netted al fresco dining area that seemed great at nighttime. We got a table in the middle room right in front of the kitchen, which gave us a view of the upstairs room and the bar activity. Our table of 4 started by sharing a bottle of Tasca d'Almerita Lamuri, Nero d'Avola, which we were very pleased with. To start, three of us shared the ciccioli on top of a corn, salsa verde, bread crumbs mixture. The texture and flavors were a great combination. Salty pork, sweet corn, and a little crunch from the bread crumbs.

Taking advantage of the last "nice" weekend of the year, we chose to take a trip up to Philly to see the sights again and, since it was cool out, to deviate from the usual Philly routine (historical sites, Chinatown, historical sites), to eat at City Tavern.

We enjoyed the Crab Shack very much. The boiled crawfish, shrimp, crab legs, potatoes, corn on the cob and smoked sausage platter was delicious. Very enjoyable evening in a very fun atmosphere.

They turn out their signature drink, the BBC, like water for a reason! The bloody Mary's are pretty damn good too!

This is by far the best place for after work drinks. My boyfriend and I are regulars there, at first we started going for the drink specials - $2 pints on Thursdays and $4 Cosmos on Fridays.

Thank god appearances can be deceiving. Walking into Esquire Tavern I seriously doubted that I was about to have a delicious meal. Esquire Tavern boasts itself as the oldest bar on the San Antonio Riverwalk and it definitely shows. The place is dimly lit; mostly constructed of dark, polished wood; and has an "old" smell. There are also taxidermy animals pretty much everywhere. If this seems at all off-putting to you, I encourage you to look past it.

We stopped up here to see a band while we were in town. It also happened to be their 30th birthday weekend party/bash! Thee place was packed and they set up a tent in order to accommodate the crowd. They did a good job controlling he masses.

We met friends at Hi Tones to celebrate a birthday. I was a little apprehensive that I might not be cool enough to be there, but my fears unfounded as the crowd was both diverse and friendly. As others have mentioned, the drinks were very affordable and there was no cover charge the night we went.. The live music was great and the atmosphere was divey-eclectic in a good, interesting kind of way. We had a great time and will definately return in the near future.
