Bobwhite Lunch and Supper Counter

tv show: $24 in 24

Bobwhite Counter is a small restaurant with big aspirations. We want to make seasonal, responsible food something you can afford to enjoy on a regular basis. Maybe we’re biased, but we think that the spirit and soul of Southern cooking is a perfect way to do just that. Whether you want to sit down for a friendly meal or take something home, we hope you’ll enjoy our Southern-style chicken suppers, sandwiches, and seasonal vegetables all made from responsible, high-quality ingredients.

Katz's Deli

tv show: Adam Richman's Best Sandwich in America

The best combination has to be half pastrami and half corned beef though. With a side of cucumber and pickles, life is complete. The meat is so well seasoned and prepared, I can literally just eat the slices as is without the bread.

Falai

tv show: America's Best

I'm writing about the Clinton street location. Top notch pastries, and if someone brings me some i'm delighted. I won't go into the store though. Sometimes i wish the proprietor of a place would stand in line themselves, or be waited on, just to see how paltry the service is. The service just doesn't work - and i doubt it is exclusively the fault of the people working there, it just isn't designed for service and nobody's ever given it any consideration.

Keens Steakhouse

tv show: America's Best

I finally went to Keens Steakhouse! Opened since 1885.... it definitely has a long history. Decor seems to ooze men only atmosphere, especially with the pipes lines along the ceiling. Foodwise, I love it. Raw oysters, raw clams, aged prime porterhouse (medium rare), creamed spinach, sauteed field mushrooms, and asparagus. Ending the night with Port. Delicious!!

PDT

tv show: America's Best

OK I would not have given it 4 Star if not for the help sadly, of Hurricane Sandy. We couldn't easily get a reservation here because you have to call at 3PM on the same day and really, how crazy it is to fight for a reservation with minutes-long window of opportunity!

Lucali

tv show: America's Best

My first time was magical. Did not expect it to be that damn good, but it was. So darn freaking good. That was almost a year ago, so this past Sunday I decided it's been long overdue to pay this place another visit. Drove there, found parking immediately right around the corner! If anyone knows how hard it is to find parking in that neighborhood, you would be giving me a pound. Got out of the car with my two bottles of wine, approached the shop and guess what!

Biang

tv show: Bizarre Foods America

As much as I hate lamb meat, I always crave for their famous spicy cumin lamb noodles whenever I come to Biang. Maybe it's the combination of all the awesome grease, salt and spiciness offsetting the unpleasant lamb flavor that I always despise. The hand-pulled noodles have the perfect chewy texture with enough "heat" to give you that tingly feeling that makes you want more. I always feel like I'm eating Rapunzel's hair since the noodles stretched endlessly so they're a bit hard to handle! Don't let that prevent you from ordering the noodles though!

Beautiful Memory

tv show: Bizarre Foods America

I sometimes have a macaron madness descend on me and in a neighborhood surrounded by chinese bakeries this korean style bakery chain is a solid choice for my needs. They sell one of the biggest macarons I have seen. They come individually packaged in their own little bubble like the best kind of snow globe setting. This place is not Bouchon by any means but they do sell very light tasting and fresh pastries that never disappoint. The price is a bit higher but the quality makes up for it.

Tawa Food

tv show: Bizarre Foods America

This place is actually on 72nd and Broadway. The first time I tried to go with my bf, we ended up wandering all over Jackson Heights before we called and got the correct address! Tiny place but delicious, big flavors! I LOVE the veggie momos (they are seriously the most hearty, flavorful veggie dumplings I've ever had) and the vegetarian thali, which is basically a sampler plate of a bunch of Himalayan veggie dishes. But I think I'll probably go back again when the weather is a little cooler. Going there definitely feels like you are in Asia. I.E. no a/c, just fans blowing hot air around.
